An Introduction to Pathology

This is a basic text for nursing and health care students. Pathology in the context of this book is considered in the broadest true terms of reference and relates to the study of disease rather than a restrictive overview of laboratory based medicine. General concepts such as health and causes of illness are examined in the early chapters then subsequent chapters outline the principles of disease processes involving inflammation, infection, immunology and neoplasia. This is followed by an investigation of the body systems and certain common symptoms, together with brief descriptions of the pathophysiology of simple investigative techniques.
