It's spring, 2010.

Meet Captain Kamper (age 58) - and his loyal steed, Lotte the Hymer van. They're off to Sorrento, Italy, for his daughter Laura's wedding.

But he's packed a WW2 RAF log-book, some old photos and a cassette-tape ... his father Cyril's, from North Africa, Sicily, southern Italy ... 1943.

Then the sky starts to change colour.

All kinds of flames and eruptions have pushed to the surface. Steinbeck, Yeats, Empedocles. Eboli, Randazzo, Etna.

There's a daughter to pick up from Trapani - and bad news from Yorkshire.

And Oh! Come Back to Sorrento!
