Adhesion Aspects of Thin Films, Volume 3

This book is mostly based on papers presented at the Second International Symposium on this Adhesion Aspects of Thin Films (including Adhesion Measurement and Metallized Plastics) held in Savannah, Georgia. However, in addition to these papers, some other relevant papers have also been included to broaden the scope.

There is tremendous current interest in thin films because of their unique properties and applications in diverse technological areas for a variety of purposes, and their adequate adhesion to a host of substrates is of crucial importance in achieving their intended functions.

This book is divided into two parts: Part 1: Stress and Adhesion Aspects of Thin Films; Part 2: Metallized Plastics. Topics covered include: various factors generating/affecting stresses in thin films; relevance of stresses in adhesion; ways to improve adhesion; adhesion measurement; various ways to metallize plastics; plastic surface treatments to improve adhesion of metal layers; and investigation of metal-plastic interfaces.
