On Old English

The book comprises essays, articles and reviews on the interpretation and value of Old English literature and on the way in which grammar - morphology, syntax and punctuation in particular - crucially impinges on the translation and understanding of both prose and poetry. The collection is organised in four parts, devoted to "Beowulf"; the poet Caedmon; "The Wanderer", "The Seafarer", "The Wife's Lament" and other poems; Old English language. The author has also written "Old English Syntax" (with Fred Robinson) and "A Guide to English".
