Recent Progress of Diabetes Mellitus in East Asia

The Third Japan-China Symposium on Diabetes Mellitus, the proceedings of which are published in this book, is the third in a series of symposia organized on Diabetes Mellitus. The first symposium was held in 1987 in Beijing, the second symposium in Fukuoka. It is planned to hold the following symposia every year in either Japan or China. Many of the problems associated with diabetes mellitus were discussed at this symposium, by researchers and clinicians from both countries, covering the recent situation of epidemiology, pathogenesis of diabetes, progress of the treatment of diabetes and various aspects of the complications. An outline of the contents of this proceedings is provided hereunder.
