History Inquiries: Bk. 1

In this evidence based history course designed for pupils in the early years of secondary school, each book contains source-based studies within a chronological structure. This first book includes chapters on the Battle of Hastings, William Rufus, Robin Hood and Joan of Arc. The topics and issues chosen are intended to motivate all pupils and are relevant for those who will proceed to examination courses in history. The emphasis is on doing the detective work of real historians, such as using, understanding and evaluating evidence. It also emphasizes developing skills and looking at concepts such as heredity, change, cause, and motivation, that are vital for understanding not just the past, but also the changing world of today and tomorrow.
