Butterflies
do live here !came from hearing Favel Friedman's poem Butterflies, as
he said butterflies don't' live here any more in the ghetto. However
in Swanage people like Paul Walder, Craig Saul , Anita Grosz, second
generations Kindertransport were the butterflies from the Chrysalis
of Nazi Germany. The day was about thanksgiving to those who had
saved their parents from the Nazi death camps. Craig Saul's father
Gary came on the very first Kindertransport through Florence
Nankivell and Paul Walder his father Peter came with
Trevor Chadwick and Anita's Father Hanus, came via Sir Nicholas
Winton. All in all 10.000 children were rescued from Nazi Europe and
they had a new life in the UK for a GBP50 passage.
The
Bandstand event was well attended and there was lots to hear ad
people to talk with. It was an historical day and memorable
as-well why when you read it will keep in your heart and head
forever.
Rezensionen / Stimmen
"It was a tremendous pleasure to welcome Paul Walder and his two children to Swanage on May 15th.
It was remarkable to think that Paul had flown over from Chile especially to visit the bronze statue of Trevor Chadwick, the person responsible for rescuing his father from Prague just prior to the outbreak of the Second World War.
It was a really touching occasion and we were able to discuss the planning and creation of the statue, which took over two years. It was a little hindered by the covid lockdown and the difficulties in raising funds. However, the community and other organisations rallied around to help.
Paul has recently published a book detailing his father's exploits which was so interesting to read.
I have such pleasant memories of the day and for me it 'put the icing on the cake' meeting Paul and his family.
The occasion was made possible by Elaine Waterfield, to whom the Trevor Chadwick Memorial Trust owe a great debt of gratitude".

here are some thoughts
In a world that tends to magnify evil and overlook the good, it is important to remember the heroes of World War 2 who risked their lives to save Jewish people during the holocaust. The commemoration of the Kindertransport, which brought rescued Jewish children from the horror of Nazi Germany to the tranquil safety of Swanage, was a unique event that must not be forgotten. May God bless Elaine for her efforts to remember and honour faith, hope and love in the lives of those who were prepared to give their lives that others may live. Through them the motto "Never again is now", will live on in a world that must know that Israel is the apple of God's eye.
