The 356 was, in 1950, Porsche's first production car, based on a Volkswagen Beetle Special designed by Ferdinand Porsche's son Ferry. By the time the 356C model went out of production in 1965, 80,000 356s had been built, testifying to the cars' attractions. In the intervening years many distinct versions were made, and many hundreds of production, specification and equipment changes took place. With the aid of factory records, this book provides evidence of what constitutes an authentic Porsche 356.
