This book is an attempt to apply Marxist thinking to today's political, social and economic conditions. It also sets out to subject recent works on political and economic theory to the kind of critique that Marx performed on his contemporaries, especially the followers of Hegel. The two main areas that the book is concerned with are the question of political participation within existing group structures and the relevance of Marx's views on political economy.
