This introduction to pathology is aimed at medical students and trainee pathologists taking their first postgraduate qualification (MRCPath), although medical graduates working in related disciplines should also find it a valuable repository of information. Volume 1 deals with the general principles of pathological processes and incorporates discussions of normal cell structure, genetics and function. Selected diseases are simply used as examples to illustrate general principles. Each chapter starts with an explanation of normal structure and function and is followed by a description of the structural, cellular and molecular basis of the disorder. The chapter ends with a discussion of the pathophysiology of the system.
