The City Companion

Here is a look at the oldest part of London - an area once confined by city walls. This book combines distinctive drawings with wonderful calligraphy prepared by the authors, to create a superb record of a city founded by the Romans in the first century AD. The City has become a major financial centre, and as such must of course thrive and move with the times, but not without remembering its glorious past. A proper balance between the old and new is vital if the City is to retain more than just its famous street names and a handful of celebrated monuments.
