The Sheltering Desert tells the story of two German geologists, Henno Martin and Hermann Korn, who were sent to the former South West Africa in 1935 to do research on the Naukluft. After the outbreak of the Second World War, they chose to live and survive like Bushmen in the Namib Desert rather than face internment for the duration of the war.
