This new edition of A Complete Guide to the Snakes of Southern Africa comprehensively revises and updates Marais' earlier publication, which was widely regarded as essential reading for anyone from herpetologists, snake collectors and game rangers to hikers, gardeners and even householders who occasionally encounter snakes. More than just a field guide, this book provides detailed information on all the snakes that occur in southern Africa - their appearance, habits, habitats, distribution, reproduction and feeding. Concise text, colour photographs, line drawings and distribution maps make for easy identification of all the snakes of the region. Introductory chapters provide up-to-date information on snakebite, guidelines for keeping snakes in captivity and a guide to the classification of snakes.
