This beautiful book shows the artist how to develop their own unique way of seeing and interpreting light and colour in oils, using plein air painting as the foundation (painting outdoors direct from life). It serves as a catalyst for exploration, both out in the field, and back in the studio. Packed with finished examples and step-by-step sequences, it guides you through the beguiling challenge of painting the light, demonstrating how to say 'just enough' in your own work.
Rezensionen / Stimmen
It's pleasing to report that Sarah hits the mark perfectly here. This is all about light - indoors, outside and in a wide variety of conditions. One of the most important aspects of painting light is to get the shadows right - bright, direct light produces deeper and more richly coloured ones than when it's softer and diffused. Sarah deals with this nicely, with plenty of examples along the way. This is an excellently thought out and nicely produced book that deals with its subject comprehensively. -- Henry Malt, artbookreview.net * artbookreview.net *
