Psychiatry Review and Board Preparation

Vishal Madaan, MD, is Clinic Operations Officer at the University of Virginia's Child and Family Clinic in Charlottesville, VA. He is a faculty member with the Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at UVA, where he also serves as associate program director of the general psychiatry Program. Dr. Madaan received his medical degree at MD University in India. Following his initial psychiatry residency and board certification at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, India, he was invited as a visiting researcher in psychogenomics at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. After completing another residency in psychiatry and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry in the US, Dr. Madaan has continued to serve as an academician, initially in the Midwest and now in Virginia. Dr. Madaan is a member of several professional societies, including the American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Association for Academic Psychiatry and AADPRT, and has served on a variety of national committees. He has co-authored several articles and book chapters for peerreviewed scientific and medical journals. Dr. Madaan has presented his research and chaired sessions on a variety of psychiatric disorders at both national and international psychiatry meetings. He serves as Specialty Editor of the journal Frontiers in Child and Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry, and Chief Editor for the child psychiatry section of the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology Model Psychopharmacology Curriculum. He also serves on the editorial board for APA's journal for lifelong learning, FOCUS. Apart from his clinical interest in ADHD, he is passionate about teaching his residents and fellows.
