It is a little known fact that flat racing is a hotbed of scams, scandals, frauds and fixing. In this volume, Rupert Mackeson has compiled the greatest, most notorious flat-racing scams of all time. He reveals the motives, the money makers and, of course, the losers. From the 1800s to the present day, all the great stories are featured, including the skulduggery of Daniel Dawson, who was sent to the gallows for poisoning horses at Newmarket; and the tale of the Australian Peter Barrie, who was sentenced to three years hard labour for running a ringer at Cheltenham's 1919 New Year meeting. The book also includes revelations about the infamous kidnapping of Derby winner Shergar.
