Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was an American poet born in 1807. He is one of the five Fireside Poets. Longfellow is best known for his poems Paul Revere's Ride and Evangeline. Tales of a Wayside Inn is composed of a series of stories in verse. Different persons at the Red Horse Inn at Sudbury tell the stories. Many of the stories are drawn from legends of continental Europe and a few from American sources.
