The volume outlines a consistent empirical theory of semantic acquisition by combining interdisciplinary aspects of the meaning concept with findings derived from the theory of learnability and confronting these with the insights into meaning acquisition already furnished in the literature on the subject. The proposals elaborated suggests possible solutions for evading the aporias bedeviling nativist or constraint-based models developed as a response to the formulation of the induction problem in semantic acquisition.
 
Das vorliegende Buch entwickelt Grundzüge einer konsistenten empiristischen Semantikerwerbstheorie, indem es interdisziplinäre Aspekte des Bedeutungsbegriffs mit Ergebnissen lernbarkeitstheoretischer Überlegungen verbindet und mit den in der Literatur bereits zur Verfügung stehenden Erkenntnissen zum Bedeutungserwerb konfrontiert. Die erarbeiteten Vorschläge bieten Lösungsansätze für eine in der einschlägigen Forschung zu konstatierende Aporie nativistischer bzw. constraint-basierter Modelle, die sich als Konsequenz auf die Formulierung des Induktionsproblems im Semantikerwerb entwickelt haben.
