The Localisation 1990 Conference was held at the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London, from 13 August to 15 August 1990. This volume contains 12 papers which are detailed contributions given by the invited speakers at the conference. These constitute a comprehensive overview of current work in this area. Localisation is now a rather broad field of research with far reaching applications in a range of technologies. This breadth of application is demonstrated by the diversity of topics presented in these proceedings. Familiar and traditional concepts are discussed alongside the latest developments. These proceedings will be of great value to researchers who deal with localisation problems in the course of their work.
