This is a guide to the histopathological assessment of thyroid and parathyroid lesions. Knowledge in this field has increased rapidly in recent years and new developments, particularly in immunohistochemistry, have resulted in a more accurate interpretation of the lesions as well as further information about their nature. The introduction of new histological techniques has led to a more rational surgical approach. This work emphasizes structural and histochemical features relevant to histopathological diagnosis and includes case studies and illustrations of lesions the histopathologist would expect to encounter.
