A critical overview of the British democracy which argues that our notion of parliamentary sovereignty is not only unfair but is irrelevant and is unable to deal with the environment, the international economy and world peace. In that it embodies the doctrine that there should be one single source of power and authority in the community that has absolute power and the ability to override all other sources of power, the British democratic system is unique among the democracies of the world. It lacks the kind of checks and balances which, as the text shows, are to be found in the American constitution. The author has also written two novels, "Blue Fruit" and "The Burnt House".
