The memoirs of a man who survived the Holocaust, this text is unusual in that Jakob Littner's story did not take place in a concentration camp, but rather in a town in Ukraine on the Eastern Front. His memoir's trace his life from Munich where he was a successful stamp dealer to the ghetto of Zbaraz in Ukraine. He describes the destruction of the Jews of Zbaraz and his own miraculous survival through chance and resourcefulness, together with the actions of his German business partner, Christa. The book contains controversial information regarding the Jewish Council and Jewish Militia's involvement in the killing of the Jews of Zbaraz.
