Since the use of computers is expanding so rapidly, it is expected that five years from now 70 to 80 percent of students will have their own personal computer. This clearly will have an impact on teaching and the curriculum in most subjects. The purpose of this conference was to determine and evaluate this impact. Changes in traditional classroom teaching and examinations in areas such as Science and Engineering, Medical Science, Library and Information Science, the Management Sciences, and others were discussed. These included the use of simulation and modelling, data bases, artificial intelligence including the use of expert systems, text processing, and the use of floppy discs for assignments and tests. Classroom and student management will clearly play a more important role in the future. Attention was given to the minimum amount of knowledge about computers needed to use the computer effectively in a certain subject. How much fundamental knowledge about computers should be taught to facilitate the use of the computer in a particular subject area was discussed. Changes in the content of lectures were discussed.
