Immunology of Oral Diseases

Previous editions of this book have embraced both basic immunology and immunological aspects of oral diseases. In this third edition, only the latter is covered and knowledge of basic principles is assumed. The needs of undergraduate and postgraduate students are addressed, and the new edition discusses the impact of molecular science on the practice of dentistry and its implications for future practice, especially preventive therapy. The greatly revised text sees most change in discussion of periodontal diseases, caries and recurrent oral ulcers. The threat of AIDS to the dental team, and its early oral diagnostic manifestations are reviewed in a new chapter on this epidemic disease.
