This text reports the findings of a peer-led research project in Bolton. The research was initiated in response to concerns expressed by young people in Bolton about the quality of mental health services they were using. Young people themselves planned the research and carried out the interviews. The report draws on young people's experience, from their first attempts to seek help, through to hospital treatment, to support in the community. Through focus-group discussions, young people were able to generate strong recommendations for change. The report should be of interest to: those with a responsibility for providing mental health services for young people; professionals working with young people with mental health problems; practitioners interested in setting up peer-led research. It has been published in association with the Mental Health Foundation, College of Health, and Birmingham Young People's Advice and Support Service.
