This book provides interviewers, particularly police investigators, with everything they need to conduct effective, ethical interviews with criminal suspects. The author pulls from his training and experience to provide instruction on interviewing and interrogation, an essential area of investigations.
This book provides both the theory behind interview techniques as well as the practical application, which appeals to different learning styles. It can be read as a whole, or it can be picked up and skimmed for ideas on how to approach certain interviews. Unique to this book are the case studies. These discuss cases moving from first considerations, to strategy, to the actual interrogation monologues.
The primary audience is police investigators, but anybody conducting interviews as a regular aspect of their job duties can benefit from this book. This might include military, loss prevention, or arson investigators, to name a few.
