The author became a journeyman potter in Mexico to fully understand her subject, and in this book describes the manufacturing process of primitive potters, the way a pottery-producing family organized its living and work space, mining of clay, types of tools and firing techniques. The book is intended as a contribution to Mesoamerican ethno-archaeology in general and the region of Southern Puebla in particular and it provides a tool for two means of archaeological interpretation: the ethnographic analogy and the imitative experiment.
