Foreign Collections of Ethnography in Scotland

This book provides a survey of collections of foreign ethnography held in museums, institutions and private collections in Scotland. It includes essays by Dale Idiens describing the background to Scotland's assemblies of foreign artifacts, and by Ian O. Morrison and Elizabeth Kwasnik on the design and structure of the Research Programme and the implementation of the comprehensive National Database established as a result. Barbara Woroncow discusses the use of these collections and their potential for study and display, and Timothy Ambrose examines the way forward. This book includes information on the management and maintenance of collections, as well as a summary catalogue by area. The complete catalogue is held on a database in the National Museums of Scotland.
