On idioms

The idiom is one of the most expressive language units. Even though there is no universal agreement on what an idiom is, it is, nonetheless, an interesting topic to examine and discuss. In this book we look at idioms mostly from an etymological point of view: looking at the origins of different idioms, how their created mental image affects their stylistic usage and, consequently, their translation into the Russian language.
