Most of the work in the construction industry today is carried out by specialist contractors, and ranges from design and installations to commissioining and maintenance. In recent years, specialist contractors have had to bear more and more contractual risk, including that associated with bonds and warranties. Non-standard contracts or amended standard forms mean that there is an imbalance of risk. The object of this book is to acquaint the specialist contractor with the standard forms of contract and sub-contract, and to highlight those risks which they should seek to either avoid or minimize. The contractual conflict in the industry has given rise to a large number of legal cases which are of relevance to the specialist contractor, and these are considered at length in the book.
