Health, Safety and Welfare Law in Ireland

* Describes the principal duties and obligations of employers and employees as outlined in the Health & Safety at Work Acts 1989 to 2005 and including subsequent Regulations




* Covers all areas of occupational health and safety law, including that relevant to the construction industry and the caring professions, e.g. childcare




* Addresses issues relating to the provision and promotion of safe and healthy working practices, systems and training




* Identifies and discusses risk factors in relation to safety under the Health, Safety & Work General Purpose Regulations




* Discusses the role and function of the Health and Safety Authority, and outlines the Health Safety & Welfare Construction Regulations 2006, including the legal duties imposed by those Regulations




* Introduces legislative provisions governing employee welfare, such as maternity leave and unfair dismissal, and considers the issue of Insurance in relation to the workplace and the Law governing this practice




* Examines the roles and functions of the Rights Commissioner, Employment Equality Authority, Employment Appeals Tribunal and the Labour Court in relation to workplace welfare
