This textbook has been revised to take account of the release of Windows 95 and SPSS 6 and 7 by including numerous screen images of menus, dialogue boxes and output material from both SPSS 6 and SPSS 7, the latter operating within the Windows 95 environment. SPSS 7 includes the new powerful output navigator, which offers a much higher quality of output and gives the user greater editorial control over its content and appearance. As the result both of further experience in teaching students to use SPSS and of many useful comments made by readers world-wide, this second edition includes expanded sections dealing with the inputting of data from experiments with both between-subjects and within-subjects factors, and more advice on choosing a statistical test. The remaining chapters have been revised to improve clarity. Where appropriate, chapters now include output listings from both SPSS 6 and SPSS 7. Additional exercises on data exploration and manipulation have been added; in fact, instructors may wish to use the first 11 exercises (up to the one-way ANOVA) for an introductory course and the remainder for a second course.
