Gloucester Rugby Club one of England's oldest and most respected rugby clubs was founded in 1873. Throughout its long history the club has been a proud source of top quality players chosen to wear the red rose of England in temporary place of the famous and much loved cherry and white. No fewer than sixty-three 'Cherry and Whites' have had the honour of representing their country. Gloucester RFC Greats is the story of the pride and the passion with which they have pursued their sport and the glory of their success. Theirs is no small achievement when you stop to consider how many hundreds of players have been a part of the story of this great club.

David King has been a contributor to the Gloucester Rugby Club match day magazine for decades. A well respected club historian he has written numerous articles for both the England soccer and rugby programmes at under-21 level. This is David's second book - the first was Gloucester Rugby Club: A Cherry and Whites Companion, published by Amberley in November 2009. He hopes that his books will help to bridge any gaps in the knowledge of the supporters of the Kingsholm club and inspire new supporters to take the club to their hearts. He lives near Stroud, Gloucestershire.
