This book, emphasising practical engineering rather than academic considerations, is the first to be devoted primarily to MSF. The first part describes the different desalination processes in use and discusses the important variables in process selection. This part will interest technical as well as non-technical personnel in water utilities. Part II is the most important part of the book. It will appeal to engineers of all disciplines and can be used by water utility employees being trained to purchase, operate and maintain MSF distillers. Based on the MSF process, it covers design, tendering, erection, commissioning, operation, maintenance and plant management. Three chapters give clear step-by-step instructions for starting a large MSF plant and for subsequent troubleshooting. Part III will appeal to workers in other types of distillation plant as well as to corrosion engineers and chemists.
