Martin Keuchel is Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at Agaplesion Bethesda Hospital Bergedorf, Hamburg, Germany. He is also an Honorary Professor at Asklepios Campus Hamburg of Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary, and a Fellow of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, of the European Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He obtained a BSc in Biology at JW Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main, Germany and gained his Medical Doctorate from Philipps University Marburg/Lahn, Germany at the Institute of Experimental Immunology. He was a fellow in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Intensive Care and Transplantation at the University of Marburg, in Infectiology at Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine, Hamburg, Germany, and in Gastroenterology at Asklepios Klinik Altona, Hamburg, Germany. He has a diploma in Tropical Medicine, and Board certification in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, and Gastroenterology.
Friedrich Hagenmüller, Professor of Medicine, studied medicine at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University and the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen, where he received his doctorate. He began his training in anesthesiology at the University Hospital Essen, Germany. He became an internist at the AK Barmbek in Hamburg, at the University Hospital Frankfurt am Main and at the Technical University of Munich. In 1990 he took over as Head of the first Medical Department of the Asklepios Klinik Altona in Hamburg, Germany with a focus on gastroenterology and metabolism. With Professors Nib Soehendra (University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf) and Dietmar Wurbs (Asklepios Klinik Barmbek) he founded the Endo Club Nord in 1991. He served as Chairman of the Hamburg Association for Gastroenterology, President of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (1997/98), President of the German Society for Endoscopy and Imaging (2000), Honorary Member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (2007).
Hisao Tajiri is currently a Professor in the Department of Innovative Interventional Endoscopy Research at the Jikei University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from Hokkaido University School of Medicine in Sapporo, Japan, and received postgraduate professional training at the Department of Internal Medicine at Cancer Institute Hospital and the Endoscopy Division at National Cancer Center Hospital in Tokyo. In 1995, he joined the National Cancer Center Hospital East as Director of the Endoscopy Division. He was appointed to Chairman and Professor, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Internal Medicine and Department of Endoscopy, The Jikei University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan from 2001 to 2015. He served for 6 years as President of the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (2013-2019). He has been active as Vice President of the Asian-Pacific Society for Digestive Endoscopy (A-PSDE). He has also been serving as President of World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) from 2022. He is Honorary Member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (2007) and Honorary Member of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (2016).
