Draw poker is the oldest form of poker and all other styles, including seven-card stud and Texas hold 'em, derive from this original game. With the introduction of the 52-card English deck in the mid nineteenth century, the game of draw poker became formalized, with accepted rules of play and variations. Even Queen Victoria herself took a keen interest. In "The Game of Draw Poker", first published in 1887, the entire original rules are reproduced along with variations of basic poker, techniques of play, and explanation of terms, resulting in both a highly informative and entertaining read which modern poker players will find irresistible...or, in poker terms, an "ace in the hole".
