This text focuses on single-case evaluation in Britain - a method of evaluating research which enables progress to be determined by comparing different phases in the life of a single client, group or system. It can also determine the extent to which a social worker's intervention was responsible for the changes in the client's target problem. With examples from British experience, this method is shown to provide viable evaluation tools which can be used by social workers in the course of their practice.
