Ancient Chinese legends tell of heroic attempts to cross the infamous Kra Peninsula, but there was no record of a successful crossing - none, that is, until Tristan Jones, the one-legged Welsh explorer, made the attempt. Accompanied by his German mate, Thomas, and three disabled Thai nationals, he made his way through this short but exceedingly difficult passage in a small Thai seagoing fishing boat.
