This report gives an incisive review of the Indian infrastructure, with a particular focus on economic developments in the financial year 2002-3. It focusses attention on the need for policy reform, and puts forward schemes for optimising a return on investments in the sector. New initiatives for transport and communication, tourism, education and energy are evaluated, and the scope for community and individual involvement discussed. The report has been co-ordinated by the Infrastructure Finance Development Company in conjunction with leading Indian research institutes.
