Citizens and Society: Teacher Resource Pack

Citizenship and Society is an essential photocopiable resource pack for Citizenship teachers. Promoting effective teaching of major political and social issues, it features easy-to-use lesson plans that provide clear guidance on how to manage and assess students' knowledge and understanding of the topics covered. Emphasis is placed upon equipping students with the skills they need to be able to think about and debate political and social issues. Teachers are provided with the means to introduce distinctive ideas and forms of argument that enable students to become informed and questioning citizens. All of the case studies and activities take as their starting points the notion that politics is essentally controversial and that students need to be aware of beliefs and values as well as institutions and procedures. All of the lessons and activities are mapped to the Citizenship programme of study for Key Stage 3 and 4, and the GCSE Short Courses in Citizenship Studies.
