Conservation of Geological Material: Volume 1

This work discusses the following areas - the importance of preserving natural history collections in a world of dwindling natural resources, resources conservation and historical approaches to preservation techniques. A short guide to current approaches to curation of natural history materials, includes the use of electronic data processing, modern approaches to storage, the importance of preserving "type" specimens and physico-chemical behaviour of naturally occurring materials, that is, stability and bulk properties.
