This is a guide to the portraits or snapshots of some 6,000 people who were newsworthy in the recent past, including politicians and entertainers, the good and the bad, the famous and the notorious, winners and losers, criminals and victims. The sources of these portraits are four popular magazines: Newsweek, People Weekly, Time, and U.S. News and World Report. If a pictured person was also the subject of an illustrated article in Current Biography, this fact is mentioned. The index can be used simply to find pictures of persons, some well-known, others elusive. One can also gain insight into the popularity, importance, or notoriety of a person by observing the number of occurrences.
