The Fishing Cadet's Handbook

The author's wide experience is here put at the disposal of newcomers to fishing as a career. In this handbook two main functions are achieved - firstly there is a basic elementary tun-down of gear and equipment to be found on fishing vessels and secondly there is a most useful section on standardized terms for this equipment. Other chapters describe the layout, equipment and operation of a trawler, detailed care of the catch, practical rules to ensure maximum safety at sea, the common fish likely to be caught with descriptions, sizes etc and the contents of the "Bosun's store".
