Hands on Computing Using Disc Operating System

The "Hands-On Computing Textbook Series" consists of a basic text and ten brief volumes designed to introduce first-course students to the latest updates of popular applications software packages, and to do so in a way that gets students at the computer, and learning, at a very early stage. Suitable as supplements or as lab texts in a variety of courses, each text is arranged in a modular, tutorial style that allows instructors to tailor the course to the specific needs of their students. Step-by-step exercises let students work at their own pace, as independently as the instructor desires. Each software package can be apprached at a beginning, intermediate or advanced level; no prior applications software experience is assumed. Each text features thorough keystroke indexing in the margins to allow advanced students to complete exercises quickly and easily without searching for keystroke references in the narrative. Clear straightforward prose introduces computer terminology only as needed for understandinbg. In-chapter pedagogy includes objectives and projects. A glossary is provided at the end of each text.
An exercise diskette bound into each text offers keyed-in problems for practice, eliminating data entry and allowing students to concentrate on learning software functions rather than spending time keystroking.
