The Letters of Rachel Henning

In 1854 a young and gently nurtured English girl set off to join her brother in Australia. After an initial period of dislocation, Henning took to the pioneering life with gusto. Her letterw, written between 1853 and 1882, give a vivid and fascinating account of life in colonial Australia as seen through the eyes of a young Englishwoman.
