As a volunteer at the Norman Lockyer Observatory, Karen has many years' experience of helping both adults and children understand what it is they are observing. In the young people's section, she used a variety of slides, posters, and practical activities with which to engage her audience. She is a trained telescope presenter in the use and explanation of one of the historic telescopes and deems it a privilege to be able to do this. Her work as a teaching assistant has also informed the approach she takes in this guide to the stars and more.
