This guide features the names, addresses, hobbies and passions of Russian people who want to meet visitors to their country, perhaps to offer them accommodation for a night, or to simply socialize together. The book argues that the only way to see the real Russia is by meeting Russians, and it allows individuals to participate in the social and cultural life of the country, by spending time with the locals. Most of the contributors speak some English. There are grandmothers, engineers, schoolchildren, salesmen, teachers, sailors, dentists and students, all willing to share experiences. Some of them have written a line or two about themselves, so that the book, as well as providing a list of contacts, offers an insight into life and habits in Russia.
