Pippa Hawkins, who lives near Bristol, retired from her work as an FE lecturer in 2006 to fulfill her life-long ambition to write poetry. She was awarded a distinction for a Masters in Creative Writing at Swansea University in 2013. Since then she has continued to write with the support of poetry groups in Bristol.
Her husband Andrew was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2001 and went on to develop dementia. He has been in residential care for three years.
