Quintessential nineties images, taken from editorials for fashion magazines as well as many never-before-seen outtakes of behind-the-scenes candid moments, constitute this book by Hanson, who is known for her unique female gaze and famous for capturing the essence of youth in her vibrant and highly energetic images of beautiful girls having fun. Texture, light, and emotion play a pivotal role in her iconic documentary-style work. The book features intimate photographs of her muses and the top supermodels of the era, including Kristen McMenamy, Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Carla Bruni, Stephanie Seymour, Eva Herzigova, Milla Jovovich, Linda Evangelista, and many more. This is the first major book of Hanson s published in the last twenty years, and it presents a nostalgic time capsule of one of the most fetishized decades of fashion.
Rezensionen / Stimmen
"Perhaps the strangest thing about the fashion photographer Pamela Hanson's retrospective book "The 90s" is how much smiling goes on inside it.
Naomi Campbell wears a blond wig and flashes her pearly whites on a plush sofa at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. Charlotte Rampling smiles while smoking a cigarette in the dressing room of a Jil Sander boutique in Paris. Carre Otis grins beside a dark Porsche outside an old house Ms. Hanson rented in Sag Harbor, N.Y."--NY Times
"Just as the Jurassic was the best period for dinosaurs, the '90s were the best era for supermodels. Don't bother arguing with facts. This new book of photos by Pamela Hanson from said period (the '90s, not the Jurassic) only serves to further reinforce the status of that Golden Age of looking beautiful in front of cameras. Book of the day!"-Arcana Books
