This title, up to date to May 1993, covers all aspects of discrimination in relation to housing. It looks both at the law as it stands, by interpreting the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and the Race Relations Act 1976, and at the decisions of the Equal Opportunities Commission and Race Relations Commission on findings of discrimination in the field of housing. This book aims to cover all forms of discrimination, from discrimination in the public sector (in the criteria for being entered on a waiting-list for accommodation; in the selection once on the waiting-list; in the allocation of available housing; in the treatment of tenants once housed) to discrimination in the private sector (estate agents operating discriminatory practices; vendors refusing to sell to certain ethnic groups). In addition, "Discrimination in Housing" looks at the Commission's official views and practices, and the practices of local authorities and housing associations.
